Food Allergies
We believe that eating together is essential to creating community and encouraging in authentic interactions. We take pride in the supplier relationships we have established within our church community that help supply us with most of the beef served all year. We try to keep our kitchen nut-free, but do have peanut butter in the kitchen for sandwiches for students who may not like what is being served. We can accommodate many medically-dictated dietary requirements, but are not equipped to handle all dietary restrictions.
We offer gluten-free options, and dairy-free options, but are not able to guarantee a vegan option. We cannot guarantee there will be no cross-contamination from food ingredients from facilities that also process nuts, dairy, or gluten products. We are not equipped to serve anyone with allergies that could be life threatening. We do however; provide a separate refrigerator/freezer combo for allergies, and we do have a microwave for students/staff to heat up meals that they bring. If you make it known that a student or staff member needs a gluten free or dairy free plate, we encourage you to make sure they recieve that plate. We often see lots of food waste due to unclaimed plates made specifically for those with allergies or intolerances.
Pets
Camp Quaker Haven is responsible for assuring the health and safety of all campers, program staff, counselors, and paid CQH staff. In keeping with this objective, Camp Quaker Haven DOES NOT permit guests (camper, program staff, or paid staff person) to bring their household pets to Camp Quaker Haven. Animals may pose a threat of infection and may cause allergic reactions to students/other guests. Some campers may feel threatened or be distracted by the presence of animals, particularly dogs. In addition, Camp Quaker Haven wishes to prevent pets from fouling the cabins and outdoor spaces or damaging camp property.
Smoking
We have a NO smoking policy on our campgrounds. Smoking is prohibited in common areas like restrooms, shower houses, and rental units such as cabins or lodges. It is crucial to be mindful of other guests, especially students whom use the campgrounds. We request you help us keep Camp Quaker Haven a drug and tobacco free campus!
